Vice President, Logistics
Carl Varner is a 23-year industry veteran whose career path has taken him from the US Marine Corps through the Maersk mailroom in 1995, to vice president of logistics for Fornazor International today. During his seven-year run with Maersk, Varner moved from mailroom to pricing and then to outside sales in the New York region. In 2002, he took advantage of an opportunity to switch sides and join the Fornazor companies. He has been with Fornazor for over 17 years and has been credited with the introduction of two new independent companies, the non-vessel-operating common carrier Tradewinds International and the forwarder Bergen Logistics. Varner’s core responsibility today is to bring a third-party logistics provider approach (evaluating new options for ocean, truck, rail and transloading) to the traditional Fornazor supply chain. He also oversees a team that handles the company’s carrier relations, pricing, and contracting.
